WELCOME TO ROCKY BOX RANCH
AKC Anatolian Shepherds
We breed AKC registered Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. Our dogs are exposed to cattle, horses, chickens, turkeys, sheep and hogs. Our Anatolians are raised outside from day one as we recognize that this breed is a working dog. We are excited to be able to contribute to other farms and ranches that are seeking alternative methods for protecting their livestock. Thanks for considering us in your search for the perfect livestock guardian dog.
Responsible Breeders
We are proud members of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America (ASDCA). Just as important as choosing the right breed is knowing who you’re getting it from. At Rocky Box Ranch we are dedicated to ethical breeding practices.

Protecting Our Livestock with Anatolian Shepherds
The Predator Load in Swan Valley, Montana
Swan Valley, Montana, is a beautiful yet challenging environment for raising livestock. The area is home to various predators, including coyotes, mountain lions, black bears, wolves, and the recently reintroduced population of grizzly bears. According to Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Swan Valley now hosts an estimated population of approximately 50 grizzly bears, a significant presence that enhances the need for effective livestock protection strategies.
The Reintroduction of Grizzly Bears
The reintroduction of grizzly bears in the region has heightened the awareness and necessity of utilizing effective livestock guardian strategies. As top predators, grizzly bears, along with wolves and other wildlife, can have a profound impact on livestock populations. This shift in the ecosystem has made it imperative for ranchers to employ protective measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their animals.

Effective Protection
Anatolian Shepherds are bred for their natural guarding instincts, allowing them to effectively deter potential threats while ensuring the safety of our livestock. Their size, strength, and assertiveness enable them to confront predators head-on, protecting our animals in a way that is effective.
Companionship with Livestock
What sets the Anatolian Shepherd apart is its ability to form strong bonds with livestock, providing comfort and companionship. This connection ensures that the guardian dogs can effectively monitor the herd while also promoting a calm and secure environment.
Our Commitment to Quality
We take great pride in being members of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America (ASDCA). Our commitment to ethical breeding practices ensures that we have access to the best bloodlines, which are crucial for maintaining the breed's exceptional guardian traits. By utilizing registered Anatolian Shepherds, we are dedicated to enhancing our livestock protection efforts and ensuring the safety of our ranching practices.
